Darwin, Litchfield and Brutus, the jumping croc!

Leaving Darwin in the Morning it was a 1 Hour drive to the lovely Jumping Crocodile Cruise on the Adelaide River. The tour runs 4x daily from May – Nov and its about 45$ p.P. On the way to it, or on the way back (its just a 10 Min. detour from Humpty Doo) you should stop in Coolalinga to fill up your fridge. Its an industrial area with every shop you could wish for.

Crocodile Tour

Its absolutely stunning to see the amazing crocs that close. All the crocs got names and you get a lot of information about them during the tour, our tour guide was just amazing. We were lucky and came during mating season, where the female crocs are also allowed to hunt. Check the small one jumping out below! We also met Brutus, the „monster crocodile of NT“ (he did eat a bullshark, read THIS!) who made the whole tour famous.

It is quite a drive, so be sure you take your time getting there and getting back on time. We drove down to Batchelor and stayed at the Banyan Tree Caravan Park for the night before we made our way to Litchfield Nationalpark the next morning.

Bombing Holes in Litchfield NP!

Litchfield Buley Holes

Litchfield is amazing! Make sure you go there early to avoid Tourist-Busses and to have enough time to enjoy the beauty. You can drive the sealed road easily along and stop for all the things to visit. If you just want to have a look around a day trip is enough, even though it is beautiful to camp there and you can spend easily a few days with friends. Your road will take you along the Magnetic Termine Mounds, the Buley Rockholes (my favourite place! Bring your bikini!), Florence Falls and the Wangi Falls. Around every place you have amazing tracks to walk around.

We took the same way out (through Batchelor) and drove the 35kms to Adelaide River for the night. We stayed at a lovely station stay called Mt Bundy Station. They also have fantastic pizza, one is enough for 2 people. Don’t miss out. In the morning we checked the surroundings as it is a huge area and we saw a lot of wallaby’s jumping around behind the Showers. Beautiful scenery and nice pool area.

You are curious where we went next? Check our following days at Nitmiluk Nationalpark & Mataranka Bittersprings!
